Mother language day
On April 14th, the museum celebrates Mother Tongue Protection Day, a nationwide observance since 1976. This day holds special significance for the museum, as Iakob Gogebashvili developed a unique method for creating alphabetic textbooks, distinguished by its importance and methodology. Deda Ena (Mother Tongue) has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage monument and has held the status of a national treasure since 2015.
International Museum Day
Every year on May 18th, the Iakob Gogebashvili House-Museum joins the global celebration of International Museum Day. The occasion is marked with various thematic exhibitions and events. As with museums worldwide, admission on this day is free for all visitors.
Iakoboba
Since 1971, the public holiday Iakoboba has been celebrated on October 17th in the Gori Municipality, including in the village of Variani and the House-Museum. The event aims to raise local awareness of Iakob Gogebashvili's contributions and the significance of his work. It also seeks to promote core values such as freedom and independence among future generations.
